Loren Beven is an expert in sea
painting. Drawing on a long history of travelling and living
abroad, including China, Borneo, Hong Kong and the Indian
Subcontinent she has continued to be inspired by the world's
seas and oceans.
Painting in acrylic at greatly varying scales Beven's work is
lyrical and evocative. Working from variously sourced
photographic images she employs various mark-making techniques
to create an uncommon sense of movement and depth in the water.
Combined with a mastery of light and atmospheric conditions,
Beven renders modern a most traditional subject matter, making
it both timeless and contemporary at once.
