KES RICHARDSON creates a dialogue between abstract line and
representational form in his overtly sexual portraits and nudes.
Richardson manipulates pornographic imagery that he has
appropriated from the Internet. Using compositional cropping and
flat planes of colour, commonly from a restricted palette of
between three and four tones, he creates sparse forms that have
been reduced to their essential components. The resulting images
are clean and graphic, expressing a heightened sense of
ambiguity and sensuality that is in contrast with the original
source material.
